I started to look for a program able to do it and this is how I found this thread. Most CCTV systems use a proprietary codec so no one can change the video. I would also work off a copy as to not corrupt the original. Depending on what you are trying to do with the file it may be better to convert to a standard format. I've down loaded both VLC and the codec pack but my videos still won't play. It will probably make your life way easier then trying to do it on a MAC. I downloaded the codec pack and it worked. If you get VLC and it won't play the file, look for an all-in-one codec pack, install that, then try to open the file in VLC.
